pigpen's organ is very prominent at the beginning of THE OTHER ONE here.... he really slashes his way through the preamble, offering primal stabs at the keyboard and colorful psychedelic swirls... this is a great recording of the second most short-lived line-up with PIGPEN & KEITH, at just over 5 months, throw in donna jean and you get THE MOST SHORT-LIVED period in the band's history, with DONNA & PIGPEN working just under 3 months together, from 3/25 - 6/17/72....

the other one is very exploratory. starting off with a 7 minute romp that dies down and gives way to a rambling Bobby McGee, jerry and bob bring the song to a conclusion and pause a second before heading back into the Other One to sing the verses... after which they play an OMINOUS jam, which in the last minutes BILLY really starts cutting loose the Jazz style he would perfect in 1972 and 73.... they end up with an always welcome WHARF RAT -- they get good and spacey, flirting with that dark star space on the last jam.....

thanks WR... that was a god one... i have the shows from the 4th and 5th but for some reason i never checked this one before... even the OMSN is good, or maybe it's just i haven't listened to 71 in awhile..... GOLLY!

HL, Thanks for adding to the post, There's also one more for the 7th from the felt forum. Check it out man.
The Too from the 4th is extremely spacey and has a mexicali
in between, While the show from the 5th has a MAMU in between DS. Jerry rips that one up.
All of the OMSN's on this run were hot. The band was really tight and the vocals were great on all of these shows.

And of course I loved the WR from this show. Jerry's voice was just so sweet in '71 and Pig was healthy for the Forum shows.

Enjoy your Sunday and give 12-7 a listen.
You won't regret it ;)
